Ministry refutes social media posts about Russia aid

Ljubljana, 12 August - Following the devastating floods that hit Slovenia, video clips emerged on social media alleging that Russia had offered aid to Slovenia, which the latter rejected. The Foreign Ministry denied this, saying no aid was offered by Russia.

A TikTok account under what seems to be a Slovenian name includes a Russian news clip about the floods, but the report itself does not mention any aid being offered by Russia.

There has also been no mention of aid through the channels of Slovenia's Foreign Ministry in Moscow, nor the Russian Embassy in Ljubljana.

The government website supplies a list of countries that have so far offered or announced aid, which includes all neighbouring countries, as well as Germany, France, Spain, Czechia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovekia, Poland, the US, Israel and the Ukraine, in addition to the EU.
