Man transporting flood waste hit and run over by excavator
Komenda, 15 August - A man who brought flood waste to a landfill in Komenda in a lorry after works on Monday was hit and ran over by an excavator. Badly injured, he was rushed to the UKC Ljubljana hospital.
The man was hit when he got out of his vehicle and walked close to the excavator, whose driver did not see him, the Ljubljana Police Department said.
The police was informed of the accident at about 1pm and the details of the accident are still being investigated.
Police urged everyone involved in the flood relief efforts to take good care of their own safety and the safety of others. There are many people, waste material and heavy machinery in the affected areas, which increases the risk of accidents, police said.
The concentration of those who have been helping out constantly since last week has also dropped, so special care is needed in order to avoid accidents, police said.
