Additional psych support available to flood victims

Ljubljana, 16 August - The National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) launched several mobile teams today which will provide psychological support to residents in areas affected by the devastating floods nearly two weeks ago. Meanwhile, all healthcare institutions in the Koroška region are once again operating on their regular schedules.

Seven mobile psych support teams have been set up and will be accessible to residents via coordination staff at their regional NIJZ offices.

Two teams each are dispatched in Ravne na Koroškem and Velenje, and one team each are in Celje, Logatec and Domžale.

The teams include not only mental health specialists but also other healthcare staff, as well as representatives of charitable NGOs. If needed, firefighters or military will be enlisted to help the teams move across rough terrain.

Meanwhile, healthcare institutions in the most affected areas, such as the Koroška region in the north of the country, have already stepped up psych support in the past week.

Nearly two weeks after the devastating floods hit Slovenia, all healthcare institutions in Koroška are back to their regular schedules. Several were forced to shut down immediately after the floods, while others had to step up their services.
