Flooded schools
"They rush to open clean and safe schools": The majority of schools in the flood-affected areas will be ready to accept students on 1 September as the new school year starts, but there is still much work to be done. There is no information about how many students will not be able to attend school due to the floods. (front page, 3)
Flood relief
"Two laws for aid and repair": The government will adopt next week an emergency law on aid to the individuals, businesses and municipalities affected by the floods. The measures include free accommodation, a furlough scheme and advance payments for coverage of damage. (front page, 2)
Tenerife fire
"Most demanding fire in forty years": Firefighters are struggling to contain the large blaze that started on Tuesday in the national park on the Canary island of Tenerife. It has so far destroyed an area of 2,600 hectares and is still spreading. (front page)
North Macedonia
"Time for constitutional changes": Members of the Sobranie, the parliament of North Macedonia, will start today a debate on constitutional changes that could lead to Bulgaria lifting its blockade on the start of North Macedonia's EU accession talks. (front page, 5)

Salaries in judiciary
"How much judges would be paid under new system": The paper publishes unofficial information about the salaries of judges and prosecutors under a new salary scale agreed with the government. The Public Administration Ministry is still tight-lipped. (front page, 4)
Sexual abuse of minor
"Head teacher suspected of sexual abuse resigns": The head teacher of a primary school in Jesenice (N), formerly a cross-country skier and trainer, has been reported for a sexual assault of a girl. He resigned on the proposal of the Education Ministry, while the police continues the investigation, which could be expanded. (front page, 3)

"Without gas and drinking water": Residents of Mežica, parts of Prevalje and Črna na Koroškem in the north would not like to see cold days come too soon as the local gas pipeline has been destroyed in the floods. There is no gas and there is no hot water, either. (front page, 2-3)
Roads in Maribor
"Reconstruction is being delayed and getting more expensive": Although the planned reconstruction of Medvedova Street in the centre and Koseskega Street in the southern borough of Tabor should have been already finalised, the work will take place at least until the end of August. (front page, 14)

"Sanchez defeats the right": Incumbent Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has won the election as Francina Armengol of the Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has been elected the president of the Congress of Deputies. The People's Party (PP) and the far-right party Vox have been defeated. (front page, 14)
