Foreign partners should not abandon Slovenian suppliers, official says
Ljubljana, 18 August - Economy Ministry State Secretary Matevž Frangež met with representatives of foreign business chambers in Slovenia on Thursday to present flood relief measures, underlining that businesses in most of Slovenia operate normally and safely. He wishes that foreign partners continue cooperating with companies that have been affected by the floods.
Frangež presented the damage assessment procedure for companies, as these also apply to foreign-owned companies that had been hit by the floods, the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport said.
"The Slovenian government is doing everything in its power so that the affected companies will get aid as soon as possible, repair the damage and launch production. The Economy Ministry is cooperating closely with business representatives in drafting emergency measures to help and relaunch production of affected companies," Frangež was quoted as saying.
"The government stands behind the affected businesses, which will relaunch their operations soon. That is why foreign business partners and buyers should not look for substitute suppliers."
He met with the representatives of the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce, AmCham, the Centre for International Business of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Advantage Austria, the British-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and the Italian Trade Agency.
The state secretary also pointed to a high level of reliability of Slovenian businesses and the importance of their continuing inclusion in international supply chains.
The representatives of foreign chambers welcomed the swift response to the floods by the government, including measures to aid the business sector.
