Following two successful promotional events, real volleyball showdowns are now on the programme as part of the re:do Volleyball on Water Ljubljanica 2023 tournament, the Slovenian Volleyball Federation has announced.

Water volleyball was first presented as part of the promotion of the men's European championship that Slovenia hosted together with France, Belgium, and the Netherlands in 2019. Another promotional event was organised ahead of the men's Volleyball World Championship games held in Ljubljana in 2022.

The upcoming tournament is the first competitive water volleyball event.

The group stage will be held on Saturday where eight doubles in men's and women's categories will fight for a spot in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals and finals will be played on Sunday with the women's final starting at 9pm and the men's being played afterwards.

The matches will be played on a court on the Ljubljanica near the Triple Bridge. The court will be slightly submerged in water and illuminated for the evening matches.

The accompanying programme will feature a dance show and a performance by Duo Kamikaza. Fans will also be able to visit the fan zone where the matches will be broadcast or take to the streets of Ljubljana for a treasure hunt.
