New school year starts
"Everyone back to school today after natural disaster and devastation": Some primary school students will have to attend class in substitute premises, and there are some issues with transportation to school as Slovenia is still reeling from devastating floods. (front page, 3, 11)

Covid-19
"Updated vaccine coming soon": The latest data shows that the proportion of positive tests is increasing in more than half of European countries, including Slovenia. There are reports of two new sub-variants of the omicron variant, BA.2.86 and Eris, with both having a large number of mutations. (front page, 12)

UEFA president
"I want to activate people home and abroad": In an interview for Delo, UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin talks about the charity match in Stožice Stadium in Ljubljana on 15 September, which will see former football stars play and raise funds for the people affected by floods. (front page, 5)

Basketball World Cup

Tennis
"There will be no tennis tournament in Zvezda Park": The authorities have rejected the plan to set up a temporary tennis court in Zvezda park, next to Congress Square in the centre of Ljubljana, due to the strict cultural heritage protection rules. New school year in flood-affected areas
"Water for kindergartens from tanks": On the first school day, water is being brought to the primary school and kindergarten in Prevalje in tank trucks, gas cylinders are used in the Mežica school instead of the gas pipeline, while parents drive their children to school in Črna na Koroškem through treacherous forest roads. (front page, 3)

Post-flood reconstruction
"Emergency measures put into law": The National Assembly passed yesterday an emergency bill that brings urgent measures for eliminating the consequences of the devastating floods in early August. The focus is on reconstruction of public infrastructure and aid to local authorities, businesses and residents. (front page, 2-3)

Political parties
"Political mire ahead of autumn": Political analyst Andraž Zorko says that, if the Left is to leave the government, this would increase the power of the Social Democrats (SD). The question is whether PM Robert Golob would risk inviting New Slovenia (NSi) in the coalition. (front page, 4)
