Rod Stewart to perform in Ljubljana next year

Ljubljana, 16 November - British pop-rock star Rod Stewart will perform at Stožice Arena in Ljubljana on 19 May next year, in what is his first concert in Slovenia, promising fans an evening full of his greatest hits. During his 50-year career, he has sold over 250 million albums worldwide and is considered one of the most popular and successful musicians ever.

"I'm really excited about my first concert in Ljubljana and look forward to performing in front of the wonderful Slovenian audience," he said, adding the event will be full of surprises.

The concert is organised by the Star Production company and its director Alen Ključe said it was a great honour for them to work with the legendary musician. "We are sure the audience will enjoy the great music and have fun so we can hardly wait for May next year."

Fans can look forward to Stewart performing hits such as Sailing, The First Cut Is The Deepest, Rhythm Of My Heart, Tonight's the Night, and Maggie May.

The two-time Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee is also a Grammy and Brit Award winner. In 2016, he was knighted by Britain's Prince William for services to music and charity. He has had 16 top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Ten of his albums also topped UK billboards and 17 were dubbed most successful in the US.

With his unmistakable raspy voice, the singer-songwriter combines various styles, ranging from pop and rock to blues and country, and creates unique tunes. He co-authored 9 of the 12 tracks on his latest album Tears of Hercules, which was released in 2021.

The album's single Touchline holds special importance to the musician because it is a tribute to his late father and how he passed down his love for soccer to his son, who then passed it down to his own children.

Stewart's career began in 1963 in the band Jimmy Powell and the Dimensions, where he played the accordion. He went on to join several other music groups before starting a solo career in 1971 when the track Maggie May, featured on the album Every Picture Tells A Story, shot him to stardom.

Ticket sale for the concert starts on Friday at 11am, while members of the Rod Stewart Fan Club will be able to secure early-bird ones a day earlier, according to the website of ticket agent Eventim.
