Economic slowdown
"New drop in loans after crisis and epidemic": The central bank says that the volume of loans to the non-banking sector in August dropped by 0.6%, which is the first year-on-year drop in loans after the Covid epidemic. Many companies are also reluctant to credit their investments. (front page, 8)

Prime minister's break
"Prime minister absent until Wednesday": Prime Minister Robert Golob will be absent from work for a few more days after he underwent an emergency hernia surgery. Labour Minister Luka Mesec will head the government until Golob returns. (front page, 2)

UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers
"Three points in Denmark bring Euro 2024": The Slovenian men's football team has the first "match point" this evening as it is hosted by Denmark in Copenhagen in the penultimate qualifying match for the Euro 2024. If Slovenia beat Denmark, they will qualify for the European championship for the second time in history. (front page, 18)

Working time recording
"Recording mandatory nonetheless": The government does not intend to freeze the entry into force of provisions introducing recording of additional data on working hours despite opposition from employers. The new rules might, however, be corrected in three months. (front page, 2, commentary 14)

Traffic
"Sign are there, but they will not function for a while": Although all variable-message signs that would inform drivers of the situation on the Ljubljana ring road in real time have been set up, they will be idle for at least 16 months. The motorway operator DARS is yet to install an interface that will connect the new signs with its central system. (front page, 5)

UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers
"Slovenians against Denmark for European championship ticket": As Denmark are hosting Slovenia in Parken Stadium in Copenhagen this evening in a clash of the leading teams in the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying group H, Slovenia will try to confirm the first place in the group and secure a berth at the tournament in Germany. Working time recording
"Three months for corrections": New provisions of the act on recording of working time will enter into force on Monday, but there will be no stricter inspection as the new rules are expected to be corrected in three months. Employers are bothered by what they say is unnecessary bureaucracy and exceptions. (front page, 2)

Gondola lift in Pohorje
"Gondola up and running again": The renovated gondola lift in the Maribor part of the Pohorje Hills is operational again as of Thursday after all permits have been obtained. It features a new, intermediate station, which was finalised in September. (front page, 15)

UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers
"Slovenia in countdown mode for Euro": It took less than two hours for the Slovenian men's football team to reach Copenhagen from Ljubljana for the penultimate qualifying match for the Euro 2024. During the flight, the team sang "happy birthday" to Radenko Mijatović, the head of the national football federation, who made the wish that Slovenia qualify for the Euro tonight. (front page, 18)
