In Ruma, accompanied by Slovenian Ambassador to Serbia Damjan Bergant, Humar visited the site of the recent fire that completely destroyed the premises of the local Emona association of Slovenians.

The association, which numbers some 150 members and operates in all municipalities in the Serbian region of Syrmia, was left without premises for social activities and supplementary classes of the Slovenian language.

The government office has already arranged for extraordinary funds to be allocated to the association to purchase the absolutely necessary things in order to continue its activities, especially Slovenian language classes.

Stevan Kovačević, the chair of the municipal assembly of Ruma, said that funds for the reconstruction of the destroyed premises would also be provided in this year's municipal budget.

On Thursday, Humar attended the opening of the Days of Slovenian Film event, and the opening of an exhibition dedicated to Ivan Marinček, a cinematographer and director of photography who strongly marked the beginnings of Slovenian cinematography.

She also visited the premises of the Sava association of Slovenians from Belgrade, which has over 1,400 members, and which organises supplementary classes of the Slovenian language and a summer language school in Slovenia.

Today, the state secretary attended a conference hosted by the Serbian national contact point in the European Migration Network (EMN), and concluded her visit at the Slovenian Embassy in Belgrade.

At the embassy, Humar met with representatives of the National Council of the Slovenian Ethnic Minority, the highest representative body of Slovenians in Serbia, which presented the activities and challenges faced by the community.
