Minister Arčon hails teaching of Slovenian language abroad
Ljubljana, 24 January - Minister for Slovenians Abroad Matej Arčon received educators who teach Slovenian and other subjects in the Slovenian language overseas in Ljubljana on Wednesday. He expressed support, stressing the importance of Slovenian being taught abroad, in particularly in remote countries.
"Your dedicated, voluntary work is an inspiration to us. We support the activities of all of you who put your soul into this and invest yourselves in preserving the Slovenian language and culture," the minister told the teachers, who are in Slovenia for a seminar.
Twenty-four teachers from Argentina, Australia, Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates are taking part in the seminar, which was held remotely in recent years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It features a wide range of lectures, information on new methods and materials for language teaching, and provides for an exchange of good teaching practices.
In the coming days, the seminar participants will visit the Carinthia region in Austria, where they will be received at the Mohorje Bilingual School and the Bilingual Kindergarten in Klagenfurt, the Office for Slovenians Abroad said.
