Strikes in public sector
"Strike wave continues to grow": Today is the 18th day of the strike of the Fides trade union of doctors and dentists and the third day of the strike of clerks at administrative units, and now state prosecutors are on a one-day token strike. Judges have announced they would no longer reduce the scope of their work, but they will continue protesting for higher salaries. (front page, 3)

Retail bonds
"Borrowing from citizens": As the Finance Ministry will issue tomorrow EUR 250 million worth of bonds for domestic retail investors with three-year maturity and interest rate at 3.4%, the paper answers frequently asked questions from potential investors. (front page, 8)

Krško 2
"All five parties for nuclear energy": It was decided at yesterday's political summit hosted by PM Robert Golob that a referendum on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, i.e. a new reactor at the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) should be held this year. All five parliamentary parties signed on to the initiative and will cooperate in forming the referendum question. (front page, 2)

Basketball
"Tired Dončić not slowing down": In his 6th season for the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA, Luka Dončić has so far played 40 games to score at least 39 points on 13 occasions, with his team recording only one loss in those games. In the last three games the Slovenian superstar scored 146 points or an average 48.7 points per game. (front page, 15)

Retail bonds
"No one will get rich, but they will get more than in a bank": The Finance Ministry will issue tomorrow bonds for domestic retail investors in a bid to raise EUR 250 million. The state offers a 3.4% interest rate, says the paper, which looks into what people should be careful of when investing and what will be the costs and taxes. (front page, 5)

Sexual assaults
"'Only yes means yes' works; more rapes reported": The number of reported rapes and other sexual assaults has been increasing in recent years, with the bulk of the reports being based on the new provision of the penal code that penalises a sexual intercourse without the consent of both people involved. (front page, 10)

Protest over heating costs
"Protest in Velenje produces result": A protest against a jump in district heating costs in Velenje and Šoštanj organised by a civil initiative has produced result. The local utilities announced lower costs of heating for January and February, and the two municipalities announcing subsidies up to 40% of the heating bill. (front page, 18)

Domestic homicide
"Charged with manslaughter for stabbing her husband": An indictment for manslaughter has been filed against the wife of former sport journalist Aleš Tihec, who is suspected of stabbing him to death at their home in Brunšvik in April 2022. She has failed to convince the prosecutor that she grabbed the knife out of fear for her life. (front page, 9)

Ski jumps
"Bright future ahead of Ljubno": After a record attendance for two Ski Jumping World Cup events for women, the organisers in Ljubno ob Savinji are thinking about building a large ski jumping hill in the Savinja Valley. (front page, 10)
