Heating
"Wood furnaces in only 150 new buildings last year": Wood is still the most widely used fuel for heating in Slovenia, but eventually its use will decrease, also because of practical reasons. (front page, 3)

Subscription of domestic retail bonds
"Bonds can increase deposits": A EUR 250 million, three-year bond reserved for domestic retail investors is available to adult residents until mid-February. Potential buyers are those whose portfolios are already being managed or they at least have a trading account. (front page, 8)

Tourism and mountaineering
"Foreigners often do not know where they are headed": Many foreign tourists come to Slovenia for its picturesque mountains, but they don't realise that many routes are rather challenging, which often leads to accidents. This calls for a reliable central source of information in English tailored to their needs. (front page, 12)

Whooping cough spread
"Big increase in whooping cough": Whooping cough has been spreading in Slovenia as well as in several other European countries. One of the reasons for this could be isolation during Covid and another the low vaccination rate. (front page, 4)

Domestic violence
"When violent parents insist on having contact with children": Lawyer Olivera Gomboc believes that that rules in family conflicts are often too loose in that they allow abusive parents, in most cases fathers, to stay in contact with their children even after a history of abuse. (front page, 12)

Justice minister scandal
"Not a word about the minister": Although the head of the junior coalition Social Democrats (SD), Tanja Fajon, expected she and Prime Minister Robert Golob will discuss the fate of Justice Minister Dominika Švarc Pipan during their trip to Brussels, this did not happen. Golob said they did not say a word about that. (front page, 3)

Doctors' strike
"Consequences of withdrawal of consents": After doctors decided to start revoking their consents to work overtime, clinics may be forced to close. The government coalition has urged the health minister to revoke the consents to doctors about their working in private clinics. (front page, 2)

Drug trafficking
"Kamenik caught with cocaine again": According to unofficial information, Kristjan Kamenik, who was acquitted last year in a case involving a 1997 quadruple murder and has spent several years in prison on drug charges, was caught with over a kilo of cocaine in the Slovenska Bistrica area. (front page, 9)
