Another podium for Nika Prevc

Willingen, 4 February - Slovenia's best ski jumper Nika Prevc continued her podium streak on Sunday by placing second behind Silje Opseth of Norway in Willingen. She also extended her lead in the overall World Cup standings ahead of Yuki Ito, who finished third.

"I finally managed a good, nice jump this weekend. I'm leaving home happy," the 18-year-old Slovenian said after a disappointing Saturday, when she placed 15th in very difficult windy conditions.

Prevc jumped 133.5 metres in the first series, which was enough for sixth place. She was far behind Opseth, who eclipsed the competition with a 141.5-metre jump. In the second round Prevc jumped 146 metres, but Opseth managed 150.

"On Saturday the conditions overshadowed my landing mistakes. I decided that the weather will not be an excuse this time and that I have to land the right jumps regardless of everything. It all fell into place," said Prevc.

Halfway into the season, Prevc has 949 points in the World Cup standings. Yuki is second with 771 and the defending World Cup winner, Eva Pinkelnig of Austria, who did not compete in Willingen, is in third a further 100 points behind.
