Children with special needs
"Agonising wait for decisions and thus assistance": In the 2015/2016 school year, there were over 10,000 children with special needs in Slovenian schools. This year, the number is 15,712. At the end of January another 928 children waited for a statutory assessment decision. (front page, 3)
Savings bank
"Crucial days for savings bank Lon": Savings bank Lon faces big changes with well informed sources saying they will happen soon. The Bank of Slovenia would not comment on ongoing procedures. (front page, 9)

"Big house's celebration of versatile stories": A get-together of authors whose works have been or are yet to be published by Mladinska Knjiga and Cankarjeva Založba was held at Fužine Castle yesterday. (front page)

Agriculture minister
"Minister favouring select wine makers": There are 26,400 wine and grape producers in Slovenia and some 2,700 of them are registered as wine makers. But the new agriculture minister, Mateja Čalušić, seems to particularly like the wine makers from Istria, especially ten wine makers whom she has been promoting since before she entered politics. Truck drivers
"Truck drivers partly violating rules all the time": Police have recently fined and excluded from traffic a number of truck drivers because of worn out tyres and other offences. The gravest violations were exhaustion of drivers and inappropriately placed cargo. (front page, 10)

Maribor city budget
"Budget ready": The Maribor city council has confirmed the EUR 168.9 million municipal budget for this year. The Maribor football club was left without EUR 495,000 despite its investments in municipal infrastructure, but this issue is to be resolved at the next session. (front page, 13)
MLM foundry
"Decisive days from MLM": After the management of the Maribor-based foundry MLM stepped down last Tuesday, the company employing 361 people is dangerously slipping into insolvency. There seem to be two options now: a strategic partner or selling real estate. (front page, 5)
Electric scooter innovation
"Not just for passengers but also for cargo": Matic Brezovšek from Maribor has come up with an electric scooter Frano Bilano Rox that can transport cargo. He is counting on the interest for the product among campers and vessel owners. (front page, 6)
