Energy prices
"Energy sector posts large profits despite crisis": Despite a EUR 290 million energy crisis package of aid for companies, many, including steel works, finished 2023 in the red, while state-owned suppliers boast large profits. (front page, 10)

Justice Ministry investigated
"Poor practice in implementation of law": The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has launched an investigation into some decisions of the Justice Ministry. This may come to include an open call for digital notary services that has been voided by the Review Commission twice. (front page, 2)

Souček memorial
"Bow to voice of our childhood": A memorial was at the SNG Drama theatre in Ljubljana for Jurij Souček, a legendary actor and director, who died last month. (front page)

Swimming pool complex
"Ilirija to open after renovation in summer": Renovation works of the Ilirija swimming pool complex are somewhat behind schedule, but if all goes to plan, the work could be completed in May and swimmers could enjoy the indoor Olympic-size pool in the summer. (front page, 10)

Road safety
"Alcohol cause of quarter of deaths": Alcohol is omnipresent in Slovenian society. Last year drunk drivers killed 21 people, a quarter of all road casualties. (front page, 21)

Dental care
"Dental tourism": Several thousand people are waiting on dental services in Slovenia and many opt to go abroad. While services performed by a private provider abroad are reimbursed by the public health insurer, this is not the case for private providers without a public concession in Slovenia. (front page, 4)

Healthcare
"Will healthcare system break after March?" The Medical Chamber has said that worst-case scenario will involve the shut down of maternity and paediatrics wards, as well as radiology services and cancellation of surgeries. (front page, 5)

SDS
"Kaloh, Logar and Irgl did not sign": Democrats (SDS) MPs Anže Logar, Eva Irgl and Dejan Kaloh were the only three of the party's 27 MPs to not sign a loyalty statement. Party head Janez Janša believes this to be an indicator that they will form their own deputy group. (front page, 2)
