The man, who sustained injuries after slipping and plunging about six metres deep in the Pri Jelen Brdu cave at about 6pm on Wednesday, was already reached last night.

He has received medical care and he is stable, but he will need to be transported from the cave on a stretcher, which will require parts of the cave to be expanded with explosives.

The rescue operation, which currently features a team of 37 people, is expected to take the entire day.

The Pri Jelen Brdu cave is believed to be 518 metres long and 192 metres deep.
