Online forms in Carinthian municipalities available in Slovenian
Klagenfurt, 22 February - All municipalities in the Austrian state of Carinthia, which is home to a Slovenian community, from now on offer online forms in both German and Slovenian. The project of bilingual online forms was carried out by the Globasnica/Globasnitz municipality, backed by the Austrian chancellor's office, the Community of Carinthian Slovenians (SKS) said.
"We are very proud that with this project we can make an important contribution to encouraging bilingualism and improving public services for the Slovenian ethnic community as well as for Slovenian citizens of the EU," said Bernard Sadovnik, Globasnica/Globasnitz mayor and SKS head.
According to state councillor Daniel Fellner, this project is an important step and a valuable sign for the community. It will also give more importance to Slovenian as an official language in digital municipal services, he added.
The project was supported by the Austrian chancellor's office. "It is particularly satisfying that all municipalities in Carinthia benefit from this publicly funded project, as the forms are available throughout the entire state," said Michaela Brunner, spokesperson for the chancellor's office.
She noted that the office supports measures and initiatives aimed at preserving and guaranteeing the existence of ethnic communities, their nationalities, their characteristics and their rights.
Forms in Slovenian are now available via the municipal service centre, which is accessible to all municipalities in Carinthia. One hundred online forms have been translated into Slovenian as part of the project.
