Another protest against asylum centre held in Obrežje
OBREŽJE - Locals around Obrežje, where the government intends to set up an asylum centre branch, staged another protest. Brežice Mayor Ivan Molan estimates around 1,000 protesters showed up, the same as a week ago. Molan named a long list of reasons why the locals do not want an asylum centre in their midst, ranging from lack of adequate infrastructure to the local communities not having been consulted beforehand.
Slovenia condemns attack in Moscow
LJUBLJANA - Slovenia condemned a terrorist attack in Moscow that has claimed at least 133 lives. "Nothing can justify these kind of attacks. My condolences and thoughts go to the families of the victims and the wounded," Prime Minister Robert Golob said on X. Yesterday, the Foreign Ministry said that there was no excuse for the killing of innocent civilians.
Former Left MP launches satirical political party

PLANICA - Austria won the team event on the giant hill in Planica ahead of Slovenia and Norway after the second series was cancelled due to strong wind. Austria tallied 803.8 points, 10.5 points more than Slovenia. Slovenia would likely have finished first had Timi Zajc not crashed after a 242.5-metre jump.
Štuhec ends dismal season with second place in downhill
SAALBACH-HINTERGLEMM, Austria - Ilka Štuhec, Slovenia's best female skier, had a dismal season this year but she capped it with second place in the downhill in the World Cup finals. This was the first podium for Štuhec this season and the 22nd in her career.
