Huber wins season finale in Planica, Domen Prevc second

Planica, 24 March - Daniel Huber of Austria won the final event of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Planica on Sunday, edging the Slovenian Domen Prevc by four points. Aleksander Zniszczol of Poland was third.

Huber had the longest distances of the first and second series, of 247 and 242.5 metres, for a total of 487.7 points.

Prevc got 444.3 points for jumps of 233 and 238 metres, while Zniszczol flew 237 metres in the first series and 237.5 in the second for 431.8 points.

The season finale was also the final event for former champion Peter Prevc, who bid the home crowd farewell with sixth place, after winning the first individual event on Friday.

He has won 24 individual World Cup events in his career and 12 team events, and bagged four Olympic medals and three medals at World Championships.

Stefan Kraft of Austria, who was fourth today, won the overall World Cup for the season but fell short of winning the ski flying classification, which went to his compatriot Huber.

An estimated 20,000 spectators came to sunny Planica today, with a total of 70,000 cheering on the jumpers over four days of competition, according to the organisers.
