The park is already accepting visitors but will open officially on 25 May when Velenje will host one stop of the amateur skating competition Best Foot Forward Europe Tour.

Measuring 2,203 sq metres, the skate park is fitted with rails, ramps and other objects for street and bowl skateboarding. The skate park is also suitable for bikes, roller-skates and scooters.

As part of the project, the Velenje municipality improved access for pedestrians and adapted it to the needs of disabled persons. They landscaped the areas around the park and completed the preparations for a bouldering gym, which is planned to be constructed in the second part of the project.

The skate park is free to use. Visitors can rent skateboards, scooters and protective equipment for a small fee.

There are two street basketball courts, which cost EUR 6 per hour to use or EUR 8 with lighting included. Visitors can also rent a ball for street basketball, which is different from the standard basketball.

The first part of the project was valued at some EUR 2 million, for which the Velenje municipality paid almost EUR 2 million and the Economy, Tourism and Sport Ministry contributed EUR 100,000. For the second phase of the project, in which the bouldering gym will be built, the municipality will turn to other sources for funding.
