Ruling party picks Tomaž Vesel for EU commissioner candidate

Ljubljana, 6 April - The ruling party Freedom Movement has put forward Tomaž Vesel, a former president of the Court of Audit, as Slovenia's candidate for European commissioner. The proposal is likely to be endorsed by the government since Freedom Movement ministers form a majority. Vesel, 56, is not expected to run on the party's ticket in the June European elections.
