Number of Syrian migrants surges in first half of 2024, total figure up slightly

Ljubljana, 23 July - Slovenian police processed a total of 21,243 irregular migrants in the first half of 2024, up 3% year-on-year. Standing out is a tenfold increase in the number of Syrian citizens, who accounted for a third of all the illegal entries. They are followed by Afghani and Turkish citizens. Also notable is a decrease in illegal migrants from Russia.
