PARIS, France - Slovenian swimmer Neža Klančar finished 6th in the 50 metre freestyle at the Paris Olympics with a time of 24.35 seconds, setting a new national record. Diaspora to gather for Mount Lussari pilgrimage

TARVISIO, Italy - Catholics from Slovenia, the diaspora and the neighbouring countries met on Sunday atop Mount Lussari in Italy as they made their annual pilgrimage to the church near the tri-border with Slovenia and Austria. A morning talk by art historian Ferdinand Šerbelj was followed by a traditional holy mass celebrated by the Auxiliary Bishop of Ljubljana Anton Jamnik together with expatriate and other priests.

Violent man dies after police intervention

IG - A 40-year-old man died after he was restrained by police following a violent outburst. His heart stopped and he had to be transported to a hospital, which later reported his death, the Ljubljana Police Department said. The cause of death is unknown.

Experts looking for solutions for landslides caused by 2023 floods

KAMNIK - A year after the disastrous August 2023 floods, experts are still looking for solutions to stabilise 16 largest landslides that triggered because of the heavy rain. The authorities say they will treat the issue of landslides more systematically in the future.
