Slovenia marks Olympics with special stamps featuring climbing, cycling

Ljubljana, 13 August - The national postal company Pošta Slovenije has marked the Paris Summer Olympics by issuing two special stamps, one featuring an image of sport climbing and the other road cycling. The Alpine Association of Slovenia has taken both to Paris and has given one to the president of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).

IFSC president Marco Scolaris received the stamp with the motif of sport climbing on the final day of the Games on Sunday, while representatives of several other national alpine associations have also received one each.

"With this we have once again shown what prestigious role sport climbing plays in Slovenia," said the association in reference to Janja Garnbret, who defended her Tokyo Olympic gold in Paris.

Slovenian athletes won two more medals in Paris - judoka Andreja Leški clinched gold in the under 63kg category and kiteboarder Toni Vodišek secured silver in formula kite.
