Economy Ministry warns of malicious e-mail about business award

Ljubljana, 19 August - The Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport has said that some individuals and companies had received a malicious e-mail from a fake e-mail account suggesting it had been sent by Minister Matjaž Han. The e-mail address from which the e-mail was sent is han.matjaz@gov.si, which the ministry said is not that of the minister.

The e-mail speaks of "gratitude for the hard work and achievements in recent years" in contributing to Slovenia's economic growth and job creation, the ministry said on Monday.

The recipients are also being informed in the fake message that they have won an award "as part of the 2024 annual economic development awards".

The message contains a logo that is very similar to that of the ministry, and the phone number +386 1 400 36 12, which does not belong to the ministry.

Relevant institutions have already been notified of the fake message circulating, the ministry said.
