Media reports suggest Vesel could withdraw as EU commissioner candidate

Ljubljana, 6 September - Some media have reported that Tomaž Vesel will withdraw his candidacy for EU commissioner after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen allegedly insisted that Slovenia put forward a woman candidate. Opposition Democrats (SDS) leader Janez Janša wrote on X on Friday that the ruling coalition is holding a meeting to discuss this.
