Han says SD is custodian of coalition agreement
LJUBLJANA - Head of the coalition Social Democrats (SD) Matjaž Han said after the party leadership held a session behind closed doors to debate current issues that the SD was a custodian of the coalition agreement and wished to continue to be one. Six months after he took over as the party head he sees the SD as a consolidated and united party. He said the SD was ready to take over a much more important and strong role in the next term.
Pro-life and pro-choice rallies held in Ljubljana
LJUBLJANA - Anti-abortion activists held their third Rally for Life in three weeks in Ljubljana, while a rally was also held stressing women's right to a free choice. The March for Life was to "give voice to unborn children" and pointed to the risks associated with abortion. The pro-choice activists meanwhile stressed that "every woman has the right to a free, accessible and safe abortion" and to other reproductive rights such as access to contraception.
Psychiatric clinic employee suspected of unauthorized access to patient medical records
LJUBLJANA - An employee at the UKC Ljubljana psychiatric clinic is suspected of unauthorized access to medical records of a patient who was treated at the clinic a while ago, web portal N1 reported. This was determined in an inquiry conducted based on a report from the patient. The employee was reported to the law enforcement.
TBP revenue up by 20% in 2023
LENART - TBP, the Lenart-based producer of push-pull bowden cables and plastics, recorded EUR 75.4 million in revenue in 2023, up by some 20% compared to the year before. TBP expanded production by 17% and ended the year with EUR 780,000 in net profit. Despite substantial growth in sales and a higher profit than the year before, the management wrote in the annual report that it faced one of the more challenging years yet.
Tadej Pogačar wins the Giro dell'Emilia
Ljubljana - Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) won the Giro dell'Emilia, a one-day classic taking place in and around Bologna in cold and rainy weather. This is the first race he won in the rainbow jersey and his fourth time at the Giro dell'Emilia, where he finished second in 2022 and 2023, and was forced to quit due to health issues in 2021. Last year, Primož Roglič bagged his third victory of the Giro dell'Emilia after winning also in 2019 and 2021. Roglič (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) also competed today but he quit the race in Bologna.
Ljubljana ZOO honouring animal trainers
LJUBLJANA - The Ljubljana ZOO is hosting events over the next three days to mark World Animal Day and Animal Trainer Day, observed since 2015. Animal trainers are extremely dedicated people, Petra Vrh Vrezec from the Ljubljana ZOO told the STA, noting that the purpose of the Animal Trainer Day is to honour their hard work and their love for the animals.
