It is a group of ten children and adolescents from the Gaza Strip with serious injuries - four of them have had their legs amputated, and two have had their arms amputated. The youngest of them is four years old, she added.
At URI Soča, where they are expected to stay for at least 42 days, they will be provided with intensive treatment and rehabilitation and will be given the necessary psychological help.
Prime Minister Robert Golob wished the children a successful recovery in a post on the government's profile on X.
"I warmly welcome the group of children from Gaza who came to Slovenia for rehabilitation today," said Golob, wishing them successful recovery and a pleasant stay, "far from the horrors they experienced on their home soil."
The rehabilitation project was launched at the beginning of September by the Foreign Ministry, which concluded the relevant contract with the Slovenian Caritas. The foundation of the former president also participates in the project.
As part of the project, financial aid will also be paid to almost a thousand of the most vulnerable internally displaced families. More than 5,000 residents of Gaza will be able to buy food and other essentials, the ministry said.
