Arčon visits Slovenian community in N Macedonia
Skopje, 22 October - Minister for Slovenians Abroad Matej Arčon ended a two-day visit to the Slovenian community in North Macedonia on Monday. He attended a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the France Prešeren Skopje Slovenian Association to honour the organisation for its contribution to efforts to preserve the Slovenian language and identity.
Addressing the ceremony on Monday, Arčon said he was happy Slovenians were well received in North Macedonia and that their actions contributed to efforts to strengthen ties with their homeland, the Office for Slovenians Abroad said in a press release on Tuesday.
Angelca Stoiljković was honoured for many years of committed cultural work and efforts to preserve the Slovenian cultural identity in Skopje, while Zoran Novak was recognised for his years-long, heartfelt and dedicated work and selfless support for the community.
Before the ceremony, Arčon met the representatives of the NGO Skopje Slovenian centre, whose activities are geared towards young people, and the Triglav Bitola Slovenian Association, which runs cultural and sports projects.
