Maribor best European destination to visit this autumn
Maribor, 27 October - Slovenia's second largest city Maribor has been picked as the top European destination to visit this autumn by the portal European Best Destinations, after declaring the city the best culinary destination in Europe in 2023.

"Maribor is a destination to put at the top of your travel wish-list if you are looking for authenticity, unique human experiences, encounters, discoveries in the heart of Europe," the portal writes.
The city hosts numerous international cultural and sporting events throughout the year and enjoys a reputation as a happy and hospitable city, the portal notes. It is also home to what is considered the world's oldest vine.
The picturesque natural scenery of the Pohorje Mountains above the city offers endless opportunities for hiking, biking, skiing, and adrenaline sports.
Wine lovers will love St Martin's feast as visitors flock to the city en masse to celebrate must maturing into wine in the biggest such event in Slovenia. This year the festival is taking place from 8 to 11 November.
The best autumn destinations list also includes Cappadocia, Seville, Florence, Grenada and the Plitvice Lakes, among others.
