Volčji Potok Arboretum invites for Evening Walk among the Lights
Volčji Potok, 15 November - The Evening Walk among the Lights experience is being staged in the Volčji Potok Arboretum for the fifth year in a row, inviting visitors with around two million lights stretching on 35 hectares in the botanical gardens north of Ljubljana. The lights will be lit every day from Friday until 6 January.
The lights put on some 33 kilometres of strings will be lit every day, including weekends and holidays, from 3pm to 9pm, with a 30% discount for visits in November, and a 30% discount for visits after 7pm between 1 December and 6 January.
Announcing the new feature introduced ahead of Christmas and New Year's holidays, the management of the botanical gardens has also noted other features put in place this year.
These include a five-hectare meadow with dandelion seedheads, a "golden lake", new LED lighting of the French Garden with two kilometres of multi-coloured lights, a 60-metre "rainbow room", a romantic walk along a lake and four kilometres of lights along the various paths.
They also noted 350 square metres of lights in the rosarium, the light fireworks over the backdrop mimicking the former Souvan Mansion, a "large magic tree", 30 spruce trees in red, blue, gold and white and an illuminated waterfall.
Children will be able to listen to a new fairy tale in Santa Claus's Land, try out Santa Claus's sleigh, meet a herd of deer, hide and run among the gnomes and meet the Marjetica fairy in December.
A special experience will be the opportunity to enter certain illuminated structures, such as a glowing ball, a rainbow circle and a crystal hall.
Also on display until the beginning of December will be a nativity scene in the rock garden at the foot of the hill, while a fair featuring musical performances will be organised in mid-December.
