The festival is an opportunity for the promotion of winemakers from Slovenia's wine-growing areas, while visitors will also get a chance to taste wines from abroad.

The event will be held under the honorary sponsorship of Minister of the Economy, Tourism and Sport Matjaž Han, who was the keynote speaker at the opening.

This time, the organisers decided to pay special attention to young winemakers in the Young Winemakers' Salon, which will be an introduction to a larger, stand-alone wine and culinary event that will educate young visitors about the culture of wine drinking.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about Cabernet wines and the best-rated wines of the festival in guided workshops.

World-class bitters and flavoured drinks will also be showcased.

At the start of the month, a panel of experts evaluated 138 samples of wine, and the winners were declared today. Most come from the Primorska wine region in the west.

The winning sparkling white wine is Gjerkeš brut 2019 from the Gjerkeš estate, the best still white wine is Malvasia 2021 from Saxida winery, the Polič amber 2016 from the Polič-Truške estate was declared best still orange wine and Ivan's Refošk 2018 from the Bordon winery won best still red wine title.

Festival visitors were reminded by Safe Road Institute members about the importance of not driving while drinking.
