Intereuropa sets up new intermodal link between Koper and Belgrade
Koper, 20 November - Logistics group Intereuropa has set up a new railway connection between the port in Koper and the Nelt Dobanovci terminal in Belgrade, the group said in a press release on Wednesday. The advanced intermodal link will enable more efficient and cost-effective logistics solutions to companies in the region, it added.
The new rail link lowers the transport costs for Intereuropa customers, as the combination of rail and road transport reduces the costs of fuel, tolls and potential congestion on the roads. In addition, train transport provides greater capacity while reducing the need for additional handling of goods.
"Intermodal transport contributes to lower carbon dioxide emissions by reducing the use of road transport, which is crucial for companies striving to operate sustainably and reduce their carbon footprint. Investing in more environmentally friendly transport solutions is a step towards a more sustainable future," the group wrote.
The use of rail links also reduces the risk of delays, which are common on the roads due to traffic congestion or unforeseen situations. The new link thus allows transit times between Koper and Belgrade of just three days, ensuring timely and reliable deliveries, Intereuropa said.
In line with its strategy, the group is exploring the possibility of further strengthening its position in the markets of SE Europe, where it has traditionally been present.
