Marko Lovše named new Defence Ministry state secretary
Ljubljana, 21 November - The government has appointed Marko Lovše as state secretary at the Defence Ministry after he has served as the ministry's secretary general. He will join on Friday Damir Črnčec, the other state secretary, who also served under the previous defence minister.
Apart from Črnčec, previous Minister Marjan Šarec, who is now a member of the European Parliament, had another state secretary, Rudi Medved.
Medved, 64, resigned in June to retire, and the government has not appointed his replacement until now.
Lovše had meanwhile been put forward by the new defence minister, Borut Sajovic, who replaced Šarec, the government said after its weekly session.
He has worked for the Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief for a number of years at various positions.
Since 2018, he has been PR adviser to the prime minister, as well as head of office and secretary general at the Finance Ministry.
He has also served on the management board of Fund for Financing the Decommissioning and Disposal of Radwaste from the Krško Nuclear Power Plant.
Vanja Svetec Leaney will replace him as acting secretary general at the Defence Ministry, also taking over on Friday.
She holds a master's degree in law and has worked for the ministry since 2000.
