Večer: Alojz Krapež - A third of Slovene Army will be professionals

Maribor, 25 April - PRES/VEČER/DEFENCE
The Slovene Army will number about 33,000 troops in 2010, a third of which will be professional soldiers and the rest drafted personnel. Some changes also will be made in the intelligence-security service, mainly involving rationalization. A huge task will be that of reorganizing the administrative part of the Defence Ministry which will have to provide more efficient support to the army. The Moris brigade, to be upgraded into a highly trained unit with state-of-the-art technology, will be included in the rapid reaction force. It will also provide a source of troops for international peace-keeping forces. A limited term in office will be introduced for the post of chief-of-staff, Defence Minister Alojz Krapež said in an interview for Maribor's daily Večer published on Saturday.
