Published by the Institute for Roma Studies, Education and Culture in Murska Sobota, the book is not about Roma music as a genre but about Roma individuals making music and Roma bands, the author told a literary event in the northeastern town on Tuesday.
Titled Roma Musicians in Prekmurje, the book is based on archives, Horvat's own recollections and testimonials by the musicians and their families. It features interviews with them and photographs. At the end there is a list of the region's Roma musicians and the instruments they played or still play.
The book has been co-financed by the Culture Ministry.
One of the key representatives of the Roma community in Slovenia, Horvat - Muc plans to publish another book this year. His next work will deal with the topic of the Roma genocide.
