Higher Prices of Tourist Services Result in Less Tourist

Trends in the Slovene tourist industry ahead of the high season were presented at a news conference on Wednesday by the Ministry of Small Business and Tourism and the Slovene Tourist Board. Seemingly downward trends in the first third of 1998 resulted from the "green" winter in the season of 1997/98, a rise in prices of tourist services, unemployment in some Western countries, the financial crisis in Asia and therefore low prices in the Far East, the fear that the Kosovo conflict might spread to Slovenia, the fact that the Slovene currency is overvalued, and perhaps also the EXPO world exhibition in Lisbon and the Football World Cup, Minister of Small Business and Tourism Janko Razgorsek said.
