Slovenia Determined to Promote the Lippizaners as Slovene Breed

Slovenia's Permanent Mission in Brussels has found out that neither Austria nor Italy has filed a petition concerning the origin of the Lippizaners with the Agriculture Commission Directorate in Brussels, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Ciril Smrkolj told a news conference on Monday. There is a possibility, however, that the dispute as to the origin of the horse breed will be deliberated by the European Commission, but in that case, Minister Smrkolj assured, Slovenia would be firm in its position that the Lippizaners are an autochthon Slovene breed and that Kobilarna Lipica is their home stud farm.
