2000 Key Year for Slovenia's Accession to the EU

Head of the negotiating team for Slovenia's accession to the EU Janez Potocnik on Thursday to Slovene MPs presented the process of Slovenia's integration into the EU. He pointed to some major challenges in the year 2000, which will in his opinion be a key year for Slovenia's accession. The country will have to make sure it fulfils the promises given in the negotiating positions and at the same time keep the image of a non-problematic candidate, as its political power is far smaller than that of Poland for instance, Potocnik said. This year the Slovene authorities should be prepared for quicker reactions and decision-making, Potocnik said.
