Will Slovenia Transform Duty-Free Shops By the End of the Year?

Duty-free shops at road border crossings should be transformed into shops with normal tax obligation by 31 December 2000. With this aim in mind the government should propose to the parliament to adopt relevant legislation, that is amend the Customs Act and pass a new law introducing special mechanisms of control over the operations of shops at border crossings. Such is the proposal that has been prepared by the Government Office for European Affairs in co-operation with three ministries and proposed to the government.
