Ljubljana, 22 January - The Slovene public was taken by surprise on Friday when Foreign Minister Boris Frlec offered his resignation. Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek accepted the resignation and offered the post to Dimitrij Rupel, Slovenia's ambassador to the U.S., who agreed to become foreign minister for a second time in his career. Frlec offered to step down on the very same day as a similar decision was announced by Slovenia's Ambassador to China Tit Turnsek.
