Cormorants Kill Fish in the Savinja River

Celje, 24 January - FISH/CORMORANTS
Cormorants have killed a large amount of fish in the Savinja river. Members of the Celje fishing association have been trying to clear the river of dead fish for a couple of days. So far over 230 dead fish ranging between 44 and 48 centimetres in length have been picked out of water. The overall damage exceeds one billion tolars (5 million euros) with the offspring annihilated as well, fishermen say. The Agriculture Ministry has so far refused to issue the permission to shoot cormorants.
