Government to Propose Measures for Transformation of Duty-Free Shops

Ljubljana, 27 January - SLOVENIA/EU/DUTY-FREE/SHOPS
The government decided on Thursday to transform duty-free shops at road border crossings with Austria, Italy, and Hungary into shops with normal tax obligation by 1 January 2001. With this aim in mind the government will adopt proposals for relevant legislation measures to be adopted in parliament. The existing duty-free shops at the border-crossings with Croatia will retain a special tax and duty status until Slovenia's accession to the EU.
