Slovenes from Croatia and Croatian from Slovenia Meet

Črnomelj, 27 January - SLOVENES/CROATIANS/MEETING
The Slovene societies registered in Croatia and the Croatian ones from Slovenia gathered for their first official meeting on Thursday in the southeastern town of Crnomelj, some 10 kilometres from Croatia. There are some 55,000 citizens of Croatian origin in Slovenia, who are associated in five societies and four clubs. In Croatia, however, there are 23,700 Slovenes, who have four societies. These societies' main aim is to preserve the mother tongue.
