Candidates Should Hurry with Preparations for Receiving Assistance in the Field of Agriculture

Brussels, 6 June - European Commissioner for Agriculture Franz Fischler called on the ten central European EU candidate countries that are entitled to assistance for agriculture from the SAPARD programme to prepare all necessary mechanisms and programmes in the field as soon as possible, so that the allocation of assistance can take place smoothly. Outgoing Slovene Agriculture Minister Ciril Smrkolj, who participated in the meeting of the ten agriculture ministers with Fischler on Tuesday, ensured that Slovene preparations for the use of SAPARD resources are in full swing.
