Slovene and EU Officials to Meet for the Second Association Council Session

Ljubljana, 13 June - The Association Council between Slovenia and the European Union will meet in Luxembourg
after Wednesday's new round of EU membership negotiations. The Council is the highest joint body whose task is to monitor the Accession Agreement and the process of Slovenia's progress towards the Union. Tommorrow's session will be the second one after the Accession Agreement took effect on 1 February 1999. Slovenia's delegation to the session will be headed by Foreign Minister Lojze Peterle, while the 15-nation bloc will be represented by Portuguese Foreign Minister Jaime Gama. European Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen will also be present at the meeting.
