N-Plant to Begin Supplying Electricity on Thursday

Ljubljana, 14 June - The Krsko Nuclear Plant (NEK), which temporarily stopped producing electrical power on 14 April due to a regular overhaul, will once again be connected to the electrical grid as of Thursday evening, it was reported from the NEK information office. This year's overhaul of the only Slovene nuclear plant was an extraordinary one as it was also used to exchange two old steam generators with new ones. The overhaul thus took 61 days instead of the regular 30 to 40 days. The Office for Nuclear Safety reported that testing was carried out in the last three days and as is the norm, the power output of the plant will be progressively increased in the future days.
