Delo: Europe, Apparition of Democracy?

Ljubljana, 23 June - Those who lived in the former Yugoslavia consider a debate on what the EU should develop into, fuelled by German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, a deja vu of the final, decadent stage of the Yugoslav communist regime. However, the debate is not yet a sign of a decadent stage of the "European idea". The uncertainty about Europe's future might even be a sign of something totally different, namely a leap towards a spiritually and civilizationally higher stage within the integration of European nations, as Joschka Fischer seems to believe. Whatever turns out of Europe, Europe's future will be determined with consensus of all European nations, daily Delo writes on Friday.
