Sir Peter Wilkinson Dies

Ljubljana, 23 June - Sir Peter Wilkinson has died at the age of 87 in England after suffering from an illness for a short period of time. As a colonel, Sir Peter led the British mission to Slovenia from 1943-44. His memorandum about the partisan resistance in Slovenia stirred a great deal of attention among high-ranking allied military and political officials. Wilkinson was decorated with some of the highest British and other foreign orders. During the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the victory over fascism, he received the highest decoration of the Republic of Slovenia, the Association of Slovenia's WW II Veterans reported on Friday.
